Upload files and folders

Add files and whole folders to a Machine QR, SharePoint, or OneDrive folder.

You can upload to a Folder in Machine QR and to a linked SharePoint or OneDrive folder. Owners and admins upload anywhere in these folders. In an asset folder, everyone who can edit the asset can upload too.

Files you upload to a SharePoint or OneDrive folder are saved there, with the connected Microsoft 365 account. Machine QR keeps no copy.

  1. Open the folder: in Library, then Folders, select the folder; or open an asset and its Documents tab.
  2. Open the subfolder where the files belong.
  3. Select Upload, then Files… or Folder…. You can also drag files or whole folders from your computer onto the folder.
  4. Wait until each file's progress reaches 100%.

Result: the files appear in the folder. A dropped folder keeps its subfolders.

Good to know:

  • One file can be up to 50 MB.
  • If a file with the same name is already in the folder, the new one gets "(2)" added to its name. SharePoint and OneDrive add a number instead, as in "Manual 1.pdf".
  • A failed upload stays in the list with the reason. Select Try again or Dismiss.
  • Select New folder to create an empty folder. In a Folder in Machine QR, use the item's menu to rename or delete it. Deleting a folder deletes everything in it and cannot be undone.
  • In a SharePoint or OneDrive folder, rename, move, and delete files in SharePoint or OneDrive. The open-in icon after the folder's path, and Open in SharePoint or Open in OneDrive on an open file, take you there.
  • If a file stops with "Give the connected account edit access in SharePoint", the Microsoft 365 account connected to the workspace can read the folder but not change it. Give that account edit access, then select Try again. If it stops with Reconnect Microsoft 365, select it to open the connection settings.

If a SharePoint or OneDrive folder offers no Upload, an owner or admin turned off Uploads for it in Library, Folders.

Google Drive folders are read-only in Machine QR. Upload those files in Google Drive. See Folders.
